The Blakehay Theatre, in Weston-super-Mare, is delighted to announce that they have won ‘Theatre of the Year’ in the South-West of England Prestige Awards for 2020/2021.
Each year the readers and contributors to the Corporate Livewire and LTG publications are asked to put forward companies, products, services and individuals for the Prestige Awards, who they feel are deserving of recognition.
This online work has been recognised by the Prestige Awards with the judges saying;
‘The judges were impressed with your personal touch, consistency of reviews and overall attentiveness. The passion for what you do really comes across and I hope this achievement brings more success during these difficult times.’
Rocky Singh; Project Manager; South West England Prestige Awards
In a year where the arts have suffered the devastating impact of the pandemic, the theatre has reached out to it’s audience online, through the ‘Virtual Blakehay Theatre’ since March 2020.
The Blakehay Theatre staff have spent hours pulling together online local and national productions, classes and information to keep everyone involved in theatre and the arts during this pandemic.
‘absolutely delighted that the theatre and the staff were recognised for their hard work and dedication at this difficult time. When we are unable to open our beautiful building to the public, we have come up with new ways to ensure that we are still supporting the arts industry and the community.’
Blakehay Theatre Manager, Sally Heath
The Blakehay Theatre will continue to grow the online ‘Virtual Blakehay Theatre’ through the website at blakehaytheatre.co.uk and social media pages @BlakehayTheatre and invites contributors to contact the theatre.
