An Otter’s Tale
Oct 27 @ 15:00 – 16:00

“An Otter’s Tale” by Fat Cat Theatre Company

Three enchanting stories about the animals who live at Shapwick Nature Reserve in Somerset or: “Close encounters of the furred kind”

Running time: approx 55 minutes

This fantastic puppet show was commissioned and specially written for Natural England by Jane Leakey of Fat Cat Theatre Company. It tells the stories of some of the amazing animals who live at Shapwick Nature Reserve in Somerset and provides a fantastic opportunity to meet the inhabitants “up close and personal”.

Delightful puppets bring the story to life – including Jack the rat, Buddy the mink, Emily the watervole and Harry the heron. Jane spent many hours researching these wonderful creatures and then creating her fantastic puppets which both children and adults love.

Jane really enjoys performing the show: “Sometimes it is tricky to see animals in the wild. That is why puppets are so brilliant in giving children the opportunity to meet the local wildlife face to face. I find that young audiences gain a great deal of knowledge when they meet my characters, whilst having fun at the same time. Some young people, after viewing the show, are inspired to go to Shapwick to look at the real thing. And Shapwick is one of the best places in the UK to see otters.

Recommended for children aged four and over

“Pure magic; amusing, sometimes moving and very sharply observed”
Taunton Times

“Featuring beautiful puppets which both children and adults adore”
J Yeung, The Natural History Museum

“Unequivocolly recommended”
P Schilling, Shaftesbury Arts Centre

Oh! What a Lovely War

Oh! What a Lovely War, is like no other musical you have seen before.  Inspired by Joan Littlewoods pioneering production it Chronicles the events of the First World War.  Satirically commentating on the viewpoints and attitudes of the officers and hierarchy of the period, pitted against the pride, enthusiasm and humour of the brave but innocent boys and men that signed up to fight for King and Country.

The award-winning WODS Musical Theatre Company brings to the Blakehay theatre this November a visually startling and moving contemporary adaptation of this modern classic which is guaranteed to be a theatrical event not to be missed.

“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light”

Aristotle

“War is only for clowns”

Joan Littlewood

Snow White & The Seven Ugly B*****ds!
Dec 1 @ 19:30

Snow White is a seemingly innocent young girl. The only problem is, she’s still a virgin!

This is fantastic news for her best friend, Dickey, who can’t wait to get in her knickers! The only trouble is, because Snow White is a Princess, it can only be a Prince who gets the desirable task of deflowering her.

But Dickey isn’t going to put up with that – no he most certainly is not! Therefore, he enrols in Prince School, in order to train to become a Prince.
Throw in an Evil Queen and her disloyal Huntsman, a genuine Prince with an irritating scrotum, and seven bloody horrible dwarfs and it’s bellyaching laughter all the way through!

But the question is, just how long will Snow White have to wait for her Prince, to come?

Join us for some rude, crude, fun and frolics, as we provide the adult panto that everyone’s talking about!

A friendly word of advice: if you’re considering buying tickets to the show then you’re clearly a very handsome and intelligent human being with marvellous taste, but if you’re easily offended, we’d rather you didn’t come.
Suitable for aged 18 years +
